Peer Sexual Abuse is a serious issue that occurs more than it is reported. Kids can abuse or expose other kids to sexual situations and pressure or threaten them not to tell. The focus has been on the controversy over how kids express their sexuality but the main focus should be on why even kids in elementary school are exploring their sexuality at such a young age. Puberty is usually when the hormones that increase sexual curiosity start to develop. These hormones are not at their peak for a few years so why would an elementary school kid be interested in sex? There needs to be some investigation into these matters but sexual abuse can cause premature sexual activity. So much attention is given to having tools that help kids express their sexuality but more attention is needed to teach kids how to prevent unwanted sexual attention from anyone of any age.
